R to Z Media is getting ready to connect the traditional Media and the Modern Media.....

I had published a post about RtoZ Media few months back.

There were no further updates/progress about R To Z Media even if Randi Zuckerberg had made announcement about R to Z Media few months back itself.

Even the official website of R to Z Media "RtoZMedia.com" was NOT developed in these 3 months period. It was just showing the default page of Godaddy.

Questions were raised about the Future of the R to Z media.

It seems this condition is changing slowly. R to Z Media had taken initiative to actively involve in the business operations.

Now, atleast they came up with single page site including about R to Z Media logo and a form for registering our emails to get updates about R to Z Media.

And, this single page site shows below message above the Email registration form.

We are engaged in intersecting the world of traditional media with social technology.
Be the first to find out what that means for you

And, Randi Zuckerberg had given an interview about R to Z media.

First up, can you tell us a little about your new venture RtoZ Media? You've been relatively tight-lipped to date...

We're still in "stealth mode," but what I can tell you is that I've always been passionate about live events and making content more "social."  In my new company, I aim to work with some of the world's leading media companies and brands to bring a social layer to their products and content.

Randi with Celsea
You are founding RtoZ Media from scratch. What common challenges do entrepreneurs and new business start-ups face in terms of marketing, branding and building a social media presence?

The biggest challenge has been to come up with a single, clear mission statement that guides all of our business, marketing, and branding principles. There is so much we want to do, it's hard to boil it down to one mission. But that is crucial for the success of any business. I also think prioritization is a huge challenge – learning when to say "no" is a highly valuable skill, and just as important as saying yes!

And how are you addressing these at RtoZ Media?
I am building a great team. We keep each other honest and make sure that we are always prioritizing our work effectively and making decisions in line with the overall brand and strategy.

You graduated from Harvard with a psychology degree. To what extent has an understanding of people and human behaviour helped you in your roles at Forbes, Facebook and now RtoZ Media?
A fundamental understanding of why humans do what we do – why we think the way we think, why we make decisions to buy products, etc – has been extremely helpful to me. if it wasn't for psychology, I never would have discovered my passion for a career in marketing.
Let us see how it is coming up. An interesting thing is, lot of visitors are coming to this site by searching "RtoZ Media". According to the Bloggers stats and Google Analytics Reports, "RtoZ Media" is the Top 1 keyword which drives huge traffic to this blog even if  this blog is having very few articles about RtoZ media.

I am just wondering how people are started searching about "RtoZ media" while Randi is taking steps very slowly to promote her firm R to Z Media.

YouTube video buffering/loading is taking too much time after using "stabilize" option in YouTube ?

Few days back I created and uploaded a video "Do it Anyway" to YouTube.

I had noticed "Stabilize" option under "Video Edit" feature of YouTube. I used this "stabilize" option to automatically improve the quality of the video. The preview showed some improvements in the Quality of the video.

But the buffering/loading of this video is taking too much time after enhancing the quality. I am NOT sure whether this "slow loading" is related to the "stabilize" feature or due to some other reason.

I had tried to get more details to fix this issue by doing Google search. But I couldn't get relevant answer. Even the Google YouTube Help files are NOT telling any fix for these kind of issues.

If you know the way to improve the the video loading speed, you can share it thro' the comments.

I had taken YouTube speed Test also. Find below the result. It seem there no significant change in the speed.

(Taking speed test is easy. Just right click the YouTube Video, and click "Take speed Test" option in the context menu.)

Updates

It looks like this issue occurs only in my machine. Few Other computers are loading it properly. Note that my machine is loading other videos quickly. It seems this behaviour is very strange.

"Do it Anyway" - An Inspiring Poem by Mother Teresa /Kent M. Keith

Read below the inspiring poem "Do it Anyway". It was written by Kent M. Keith as "Paradoxical Commandments",  and promoted by Mother Teresa.

Generally it is known as Mother Teresa's "Do it Anyway" poem.

Do it Anyway - An Inspiring Poem by Mother Teresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true
enemies;

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
          Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;

Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;

Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;

It was never between you and them anyway.

Announcement about the changes in our Employee Selection policies

Currently we are in the process of recruiting freshers as "SEO Trainees" for both our Chennai Office and Ottapidaram (Tuticorin District) Office.

We receive thousands of resume from the candidates for the current job openings. And, we are spending lot of time in going thro' the resumes and for conducting interviews for the shortlisted candidates.

Even we given offer for few shortlisted candidates. But some of them are not willing to join after getting the offer even when the Offer is based on the things (e.g Salary, Job profile, location..) that are fully agreed by them during the interview.

So, I understand that many people are NOT really interested to work and they just waste our time by telling lies.

I don't want to waste my time further with these kind of people. So, I came up with new way of selection process.

We will shortlist the candidates only if they send reply for the below questions. We will not shortlist the candidates who didn't send proper reply for these questions.

Why you are willing to join QualityPoint Technologies?

What is your short term and long term Goals?

Write few sentences about your current understanding about QualityPoint Technologies and their products/Services?

Do you have proper understanding about SEO job?

Give details (address, email id, designation) of two professional references for you.

If you had already sent your resume, send it again with the above details. We won't consider your previous resume.

And, I came up with an idea of creating a website/database which allows the Entrepreneurs to add/check the people who waste time. Let me know if anyone already use such database. I know many background verification companies use similar databases. But I am expecting some kind of public database, but still it should be reliable and the entry should be done by only authenticated/reliable entrepreneurs.

APJ Abdul Kalam celebrates 80th birthday by planting saplings with kids

India's former President APJ Abdul Kalam celebrated his 80th birthday by planting saplings along with hundreds of children and farmers at Nandangarai near Coimbatore on Saturday, 15th October.

"This is the first time I am celebrating my birthday in a grand but unique manner, that too in the company of children," Kalam said, after cutting a cake.

While addressing a group of students , Kalam hoped that he would touch a century so as to witness the might of today’s youth. “If I complete 100 years...if I am alive, then I will be seeing many of you walking on the Moon and Mars. Hold on to your dreams to reach your goals. Never give up. Will you?” he said.

Kalam started asking how many of them wanted to become doctors, engineers and IAS officers. And, he had an extra option for the youth as he asked how many of them wanted to become entrepreneurs.

“In the last one decade, I have met about 12 million youth all over the world and their power and capabilities never cease to surprise me,” said APJ Abdul Kalam.

Read below some snippets from his speech.

- The year 2011  is declared by UN (United Nations) as "International Year of Forests".

- Everyone should plant and grow atleast one tree if he wants to be a human being.

- The desire for flying will  guide you to achieve great Goals.

- You will win by your hard work and knowledge despite who you are now.

- The history has separate page for everyone in the world. It is upto you to make the world to read your own page.
- You should keep your individuality while the world is trying to make you to act as someone else.

- Education Institutions should encourage the students to grow their research skills and thinking skills.

- The true growth of India depends of the growth of villages where 70% Indian population live. PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas) will help to achieve the growth of villages. Four "connections" are required to achieve the goal for providing urban facilities in villages. First connection is  Roads connecting the villages, second connection is "Telecommunication",  third one is knowledge related connections. If we  integrate all these three connections, the fourth connection "Economic" connection will be created automatically.
- "Good Character" is the fundamental thing for achieving success in any thing. You can learn "Good Character" from your Mother, Father and Teachers.

You can read his entire speech here

Abdul Kalam was born in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, in India on 15th October 1931.

Apart from being a notable scientist and engineer, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam has served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

During his term as India’s President, he was popularly known as the People’s President.

Before his term as India’s president, he worked as an aeronautical engineer with DRDO and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). He is popularly known as the Missile Man of India for his work on development of ballistic missile and space rocket technology. Kalam takes important roles in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998

People especially Students love and respect Kalam so much.

APJ Abdul Kalam is a man of vision, who is always full of ideas aimed at the development of the country. He firmly believes that India needs to play a more assertive role in international relations.

Dr. Kalam had received honorary doctorates from 30 universities and institutions, and he is the recipient of many awards including India’s highest award Bharath Ratna.

Abdul Kalam has written many books such as “Wings of Fire” (An Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam), “India 2020 – A Vision for the New Millennium”, “My journey” and “Ignited Minds – Unleashing the power within India”

Kalam has proposed a research program for developing bio-implants and Space solar power. And, he is a supporter of Open Source (e.g LinuAbdul Kalamx, Mozilla FireFox, php, apache) over proprietary solutions and believes that the use of free software on a large scale will bring the benefits of information technology to more people.

And, he is doing teaching and research tasks. Above all he took up a mission to ignite the young minds for national development by meeting high school students across the country.

His book ‘India 2020′ highlights the action plans that will help develop the India into a knowledge superpower by the time 2020.

And, his poems and Quotes inspire young minds. Find below some of his Motivational Quotes.

As a child of God, I am greater than anything that can happen to me.

Climbing to the top demands strength, whether it is to the top of Mount Everest or to the top of your career.

Do we not realize that self respect comes with self reliance?

Educationists should build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role model.

God, our Creator, has stored within our minds and personalities, great potential strength and ability. Prayer helps us tap and develop these powers.

Great dreams of great dreamers are always transcended.

I was willing to accept what I couldn’t change.

If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher.

If we are not free, no one will respect us.

Life is a difficult game. You can win it only by retaining your birthright to be a person.

Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.

Man needs his difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy success.

My view is that at a younger age your optimism is more and you have more imagination etc. You have less bias.

No religion has mandated killing others as a requirement for its sustenance or promotion.

Those who cannot work with their hearts achieve but a hollow, half-hearted success that breeds bitterness all around.

To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal.

We must think and act like a nation of a billion people and not like that of a million people. Dream, dream, dream!

We should not give up and we should not allow the problem to defeat us.

We will be remembered only if we give to our younger generation a prosperous and safe India, resulting out of economic prosperity coupled with civilizational heritage.

You have to dream before your dreams can come true.

APJ Abdul Kalam mentions in his biography that to support his studies, he started his career as a newspaper vendor. Daily early morning he used to go to Rameshwaram Road Railway Station, three kilometers away to collect News Papers after finishing his tuition.

You can follow @official_kalam to get tweets from Abdul Kalam.

A P J Abdul Kalam is planning to visit all nuclear reactors across coastal belts of India and hold discussions with the scientists in the wake of growing protest against the upcoming nuclear plant in Koodankulam in Tamil Nadu.

He was asked to comment on the ongoing protest by people at Idinthakarai village against the Koodankulam Nuclear Power plant. He said nuclear power is clean energy and the nation can achieve energy independence by tapping it. And, He said that he would comment on the nuclear safety issue after 10 days once after getting the details regarding the nuclear installations in India.

India's PSLV-C18 sends four satellites in orbit

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) placed four satellites in designated orbits using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C18 ( PSLV-C18).

"The launch was a great success," said ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan, at a press conference at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. He says,
"It demonstrates again the reliability and versatility of PSLV as a launching platform."

The primary payload was the 1000kg weather satellite, Megha-Tropiques, developed jointly by ISRO and the French national space agency, CNES.

28.7kg VesselSat-1 from Luxembourg and two student satellites - the 3kg Jugnu from IIT Kanpur and the 10.9kg SRMSat from SRM University in Chennai were also launched using this PSLV- C18.

Megha-Tropiques will study climatic and atmospheric conditions in the tropics and help predict monsoons, cyclones, floods and droughts.

Jugnu will focus on imaging the earth in the near-infrared region.

SRMSat will attempt to address global warming and pollution by monitoring carbon-dioxide and water vapour levels in the atmosphere.

VesselSat will help locate ships in the sea lanes.

Since PSLV launch frequency is getting increased, India plans to start another launch site. An ISRO official said that a new assembly plant could take up to five years to complete if the work begins now.

India launches world's cheapest Android Tablet "Aakash"

Few days back Amazon had released Kindle Fire Tablet for $199, and it was known as cheapest Tablet.

Now, India has launched a Table just for $35 USD to become the Cheapest Tablet in the World. This Tablet is named as "Aakash" which translates to "sky".

The Indian Government distributed its low-cost tablet "Aakash" to 500 college students from all over the country on Wednesday.

The government this week said it will sell the tablets "Aakash" to schools for as low as 1,100 rupees ($22 US), far less than Hewlett Packard Co.’s discontinued TouchPad ($99) and Amazon.com Inc.’s new Kindle Fire ($199)

While it is certainly the cheapest tablet available, it is not the most feature rich. The Android-powered tablet features 2 GB of storage space, expandable to 32 GB, a 366 MHz processor, 256 MB of RAM memory, and a 7-inch, 800-by-400 pixel resolution touchscreen. It also has two USB ports, WiFi connectivity, and video conferencing capabilities.

The device is said to be capable of playing videos, games, and Internet browsing.

India plans to get these tablets at 2,250 rupees ($46 US) each from U.K.-based DataWind Ltd and sell it to schools at subsidized prices.

Datawind says it can make about 100,000 units a month at the moment, not nearly enough to meet India's hope of getting its 220 million children online.

While the tablet costs around $50 to manufacture, colleges and schools will be able to buy the device for $35 for student use. It will launch to the general public in December at a price of around $60 under the name “UbiSlate.”

There are concerns that the slow and reportedly somewhat unresponsive touchscreen will hinder the government’s attempts to put an Aakash in the hands of every student. But for many, the simple availability of the tablet is a revolution.

“The rich have access to the digital world, the poor and ordinary have been excluded,” said Kapil Sibal, Indian education minister. “Aakash will end that digital divide.”

“This is a made-in-India product,” said Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO of DataWind, who manufactures the tablet. The Indian government put out a tender to develop the tablet and initially reached an agreement with HCL Infosystems, but the deal broke down after the company realized that it could not reach the government’s price target.

Both Sibal and Suneet Singh Tuli called for competition to improve the product and drive prices down further.

$35 Tablet "Aakash" is the latest in a series of "world's cheapest" innovations in India that include a $2,040 compact Nano car, a $15 water purifier and $2,000 open-heart surgery. [Source USToday]

Nobel Peace prize for 3 women

Nobel peace prize 2011 is handed jointly to three women. The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, her compatriot Leymah Gbowee, and Yemeni women's rights activist Tawakkul Karman.

The award was intended as a strong signal in favour of the empowerment of women in the developing world.

The Norwegian committee said it had honoured the three women "for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work". It was the first time a woman had been given the prize in seven years.

Prize committee chairman Thorbjorn Jagland said he hoped the prize would bring more attention to the violence against women as well as women's role in promoting democracy in Africa and the Arab and Muslim world.

The below picture shows Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Tawakkul Karman of Yemen and Liberian activist Leymah Gbowee.

Tawakkul Karman is known among Yemenis as the "iron woman" and the "mother of the revolution" .

For the past eight months, the 32-year-old has been at the forefront of the daily protests by hundreds of thousands in the streets of Sanaa and other Yemeni cities, demanding Saleh's ouster and the creation of a democratic government.

Karman says "I am very very happy about this prize" , and she says "I give the prize to the youth of revolution in Yemen and the Yemeni people"

Mrs Johnson-Sirleaf, 72 has been widely praised for leading Liberia out of years of civil war and brutality and for reducing rampant corruption.

Johnson Sirleaf is a Harvard-trained economist who became Africa's first democratically elected female president in 2005.

She was seen as a reformer and peacemaker in Liberia when she took office. She is running for re-election this month and opponents in the presidential campaign have accused her of buying votes and using government funds to campaign. Her camp denies the charges

Ms. Gbowee, who organized a group of Christian and Muslim women to challenge Liberia's warlords, was honored for mobilizing women "across ethnic and religious dividing lines to bring an end to the long war in Liberia, and to ensure women's participation in elections."

Read below the Official press release from the Nobel prize issuing organization.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2011 is to be divided in three equal parts between Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work. We cannot achieve democracy and lasting peace in the world unless women obtain the same opportunities as men to influence developments at all levels of society.

In October 2000, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1325. The resolution for the first time made violence against women in armed conflict an international security issue. It underlined the need for women to become participants on an equal footing with men in peace processes and in peace work in general.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is Africa’s first democratically elected female president. Since her inauguration in 2006, she has contributed to securing peace in Liberia, to promoting economic and social development, and to strengthening the position of women. Leymah Gbowee mobilized and organized women across ethnic and religious dividing lines to bring an end to the long war in Liberia, and to ensure women’s participation in elections. She has since worked to enhance the influence of women in West Africa during and after war. In the most trying circumstances, both before and during the “Arab spring”, Tawakkul Karman has played a leading part in the struggle for women’s rights and for democracy and peace in Yemen.

It is the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s hope that the prize to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman will help to bring an end to the suppression of women that still occurs in many countries, and to realise the great potential for democracy and peace that women can represent.

The Nobel peace prize is handed out in Oslo, Norway, while the other five awards (medicine, physics, chemistry, literature and economics) are presented in Stockholm.

Last year's Nobel peace prize went to imprisoned Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Mr. Liu was not allowed to leave China to receive the prize and was represented on stage at the award ceremony last December by an empty chair

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes created by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. It is a highly regarded award, recognised internationally.

According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize shall be awarded to the person who

Apple unveils the iPhone 4S, and adds another carrier "Sprint"

Apple unveiled the "iPhone 4S" during a press event "Let's Talk iPhone" at its Cupertino, California headquarters.

iPhone 4S will feature a retina display and dual-core processor that makes the phone twice as fast as its predecessor.

It launches October 14 for AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, and starts at $199 for the 16 GB model.

iPhone 4S was introduced by Apple CEO Tim Cook. All major Apple products were introduced by Apple Founder Steve Jobs. This is the first time, Apple product is getting released after Steve Jobs resigned from Apple due to his health problems.

The important feature of "iPhone 4S" is "Siri", the intelligent assistant that helps you get things done.

You can just ask "siri" to remind you something, or get any information or answer for any questions, such as "Will it be Sunny this weekend in Miami"?

Apple website says about "Siri" as below,

Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it.

Page RPM is high for Interest-Based Ads of Google AdSense

Today, I came to know that Page RPM for Interest-Based Ads are high for our sites comparing to the Contexual Targeting and Placement Targeting.

Interest-Based Ads means, Google will show the advertisements on a blog or website based on the browsing history of the visitor. For example, if I visit my blog after visiting our qtpbook.com site, Google may show the QTP related advertisements in my blog.

Actually I had noticed this kind of Interest-Based ads one year back itself.

Normally, Google AdSense will show ads using "Contexual Targeting" which shows ads based on the content of the page. Apart from "Contexual Targeting" Google allows "Placement Targeting" which shows advertisements by giving option for the AdWords Advertisers to choose our pages to show their ads.

Based on my analysis, these "Contexual Targeting" ads are giving relatively high earnings even when the CTR for these ads are comparatively low.

Now, I have below questions.

1. Why "Contexual Targeting" ads are giving high earnings? Is it happening only for me, or everyone is seeing the same pattern?

2. Why CTR for "Contexual Targeting" ads is low? Or, is it happening only for me?

3. Is it possible to show more number of "Contexual Targeting" ads by doing any changes in our adsense settings or in our pages?

You may answer for these questions thro' the comments.
