Why are people in India not willing to share Good and Genuine offers with others these days?

I used to wonder why people in India were unnecessarily giving a lot of money to foreign companies like Facebook and Google by spending on ads to promote their products. I thought people in India naturally shared good offers with their friends and on social media. So, I believed that if the offer was good, we wouldn’t need to spend money on foreign companies.

But I had to change this mindset after facing reality through my own personal experience. I created an AI course with 8+ hours of tutorial videos and 9 eBooks. While I sell it globally for $19, I decided to offer it in India for just ₹300, hoping I wouldn’t need to spend on ads. I thought people, seeing such a huge discount, would share it with others. But that didn’t happen.

Now, I need to increase the price in India to cover ad costs. I have finally realized why companies spend so much money on advertising. Interestingly, around 25 years ago, people in India used to share good offers through email—even though social media didn’t exist at that time. Why has this changed?
