He had invented thousands of new things including phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb.

Thomas Edison was born in Milan, Ohio, United States and grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. He was the seventh and last child of Samuel and Nancy Matthews Elliott.

In school, the young Edison's mind often wandered, this ended Edison's three months of official schooling. He learned everything from his Mother.Edison had hearing problems from early age. Some people are saying that his hearning impairment was caused by a train conductor when his chemical labortory in a boxcar caught fire.

During his childhood days he sold candy, vegetables and newspapers on trains running from Port Huron to Detroit. This experience eventually led him to found 14 companies, including General Electric (GE).

Edison became a telegraph operator after he saved three-year-old Jimmie MacKenzie from a train accident. Jimmie's father is a station agent. He trained Edison as telegraph operator.

On December 25, 1871, Edison married 16-year-old Mary Stilwell.

He invented phonograph in 1877 which gained him lot of fame.
His first speech thro' his Phonograph is "Mary Had a Little Lamb".

His another major invention is long lasting electric bulb.

Thomas Edison died of complications of diabetes on October 18, 1931.

Several places (e.g Town of Edison, New Jersey.) have been named after Edison.
