Prithvi Teja (Prudhvi Teja) from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh has topped the IIT Joint Entrance Examination. And, the second all India topper is Shashank Jain of Delhi

Top 25 list is occupied by 15 male and 10 female candidates.
Out of top 25, 22 have made to the Toppers list in their first attempt while 3 made it in their second attempt.
3 of Top 5 are from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

 JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Exam was  held on April 10 for providing admissions into prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) which are a group of autonomous engineering and technology-oriented institutes of higher education in India.

Over 4 lakh candidates had appeared for the examination in  1051 centres across India this year.

IIT Kanpur  is the Nodal agency  conducting the JEE exams this year. It has announced that all candidates will get full marks for two questions that had an error in the mathematics paper.

And, IIT Kanpur has withheld the result of 30 students who appeared the JEE exam at the Gyani Jail Singh Engineering College in Bhatinda as soem student indulged in cheating during the IIT-JEE Exam.

Around 9,600 students will get  admission into the undergraduate and integrated dual degree courses in various Indian Institute of Technology. And, Scanned copy of answer sheets of the candidates will be displayed on the IIT JEE websites withinin  two days.


24 students from underprivileged sections have  made it to the IIT-JEE from the Bihar's 'Super 30' free coaching center founded by mathematics wizard Anand Kumar.

It seems there is no change in Tuition fees this year. Tuition fees remain the same with IIT-Kanpur's at Rs 34,692 per semester and IIT-Delhi's at Rs 27,035.

The first list of seat allotment will be uploaded on IIT-Kanpur's website on June 21 whereas the second list will be issued on July 6.

Currently, IITs are established in 7 places Kanpur, Delhi, Roorkee, Mumbai, Madras, Kharagpur, Guwahati and they are proposed in 9 places  Mandi, Ropar, Rajasthan, Gandhinagar, Indore, Patna, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and  IIT BHU  Varanasi.

IITs face criticism regarding "Brian Drain" i-e The trained/skilled IIT students are leaving India to get job opportunities in other countries.

Recently Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh, who is also a former IITan had said, "The IITs and IIMs are good because of world class students, not because of the world class faculty."

And, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is going to give IIT Delhi Golden Jubliee Lecture  on May 26th.
