Indian Civil services results out, women take top 2 ranks. Topper Divyadharshini wants to fight graft




Results were declared for the Indian Civil Services Examinations for the year 2010.

Chennai-based law graduate S.Divyadharshini got the first rank, and computer engineer Sweta Mohanty from Hyderabad got the second rank.
R V Varun Kumar, a Chennai-based dentist got the third rank.

The Topper Divyadharshini did her graduation from Dr. Ambedkar Law University in Chennai. This is her second attempt. Since 2010, Divyadharshini is working with the State Bank of India. She is against corruption and says "I will not accept any bribe or get corrupt. I can give you that in writing"

She says "It pains me to see so many officials being arrested for corruption. If I had been in their position I would have stood up against my political bosses when asked to do a wrongful act"

Divyadarshini is confident she can make a difference by being an honest and efficient IAS officer.

A total of 920candidates made it to the final list of selected candidates from the 5,47,698 who appeared for the examination.

Of the top 25 candidates, 15 are engineers and five are from medical science background. Five among the top 25 candidates are females.

The Indian Civil Service serves as the backbone of India and carries great respect and responsibilities. India's best brains strive for entry into the Indian Civil Services as IAS, IFS or IPS officers.

Even though corporate jobs may offer the best of salaries and perks, a majority of youngsters and their parents still want an entry to the prestigious Indian Civil Services held by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)

The successive stages of Indian civil Service examination are:

  • Preliminary Examination for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination
  • Main Examination (Written) for the selection of candidates for interview for a Personality Test.
  • Interview (Personality Test)
